Keto Whiskey Sour

This classic yet simple cocktail which originated before the 1860s by the british navy to fight off scurvy contains all of the basic ingredients for the perfect cocktail.

One of the upsides to being confined indoors has been our increased curation and consumption of at home cocktails. You would be surprised how many cocktails you can make low carb when using keto simple syrup.

For those just starting to mix keto cocktails, you can’t go wrong with this Keto Whiskey Sour. It’s a classic drink which has all of the baseline ingredients for a great cocktail. I personally appreciate less complex cocktails with simple ingredients and high quality alcohol, and a Whiskey Sour fits that description perfectly.

Step 1: Fill the cocktail shaker with 1 cup of ice.

Step 2: Pour 1 egg white into the shaker. This is the trickiest part! To do this, crack one egg and pour the egg yolk into one half of the shell over the shaker. The goal is to move the egg yolk between both halves of the shell meanwhile the egg whites will pour into the shaker. Keep moving the egg yolk back and forth between both halves until you’re only left with the egg yolk in the shells.

Step 3: Combine the keto homemade simple syrup, bourbon, and lemon juice into the shaker and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is very cold (about 20 seconds).

Step 4: Strain cocktail through a strainer or a slotted spoon into a coupe or old-fashioned glass. Be sure to shake the shaker at the end to produce the frothy top for the cocktail.

Step 5: Garnish with Angostura bitters (3-4 drops) and use a toothpick to make your own design.

Ingredients

  • 1 Egg
  • 2 ounces Texas Bourbon
  • 1 ounce Keto Homemade Simple Syrup
  • 1 ounce Lemon Juice
  • 3-4 dashes Bitters (for garnish)
